The Interservice/Industry Training Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) (www.iitsec.org) announced the winners of 2009 Serious Games Showcase & Challenge (SGS&C) competition. The awards were presented on December 3rd, 2009. In Orlando, Florida.

The awards were given in three categories: the Best Student Game, the Best Government Game and the Best Business Game. In addition, more than 18,000 conference attendees had a chance to vote for the Best People’s Choice Award. The target audience of the game had to be users at the high school level, at a minimum.

All entries were judged by representatives from industry, academia and military in three primary areas:  Solution to a Stated Problem; Technical Quality; and Playability/Usability.
The winner of the Best Government Game and the People’s Choice Award is Computer Based Corpsman Training System (CBCTS). International School student Philip Seyfi of Prague, Czech Republic won the Best Student award for the game NihongoUp.  The winner of the Best Business Game was Vessel Damage.
