Lederman, D. (2009) The Ever-expanding University of Phoenix Inside Higher Education, September 28
The Apollo Group, reported its fourth quarter and annual earnings Tuesday. It announced that the university’s enrollment of degree-seeking students grew to 443,000 as of August 2009, up 22 percent from 362,000 in August 2008. This makes it larger than the whole of the California State University System. Unfortunately, the fiscal report did not give a breakdown between the learner-centred based University of Phoenix, and the University of Phoenix Online, but the Online University probably has at least half of the enrolments.
However, there are still concerns about UoP’s business practices: the Securities and Exchange Commission is about to investigate how it handles student financial aid payments.
