Jaschik, S. (2009) False Positives on Plagiarism Inside Higher Education, March 13
At this year’s meeting of the Conference on College Composition and Communication (USA), a team from Texas Tech University presented data that challenged the plagiarism detection services in a new way. The team found that services that theoretically detect the same sorts of problems actually find (or don’t find) very different examples of possible plagiarism.
A good example of the need for care and training by faculty when using in plagiarism detection tools such as Turnitin and Blackboard’s SafeAssign
