eSchool News (2009) Lenovo to research tech’s effect on learning, eSchool News, June 5
“Global Education Research project will study how technology affects education in and after school, from kindergarten through college”. This article describes three projects, one at post-secondary level (University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill’s Centre for Faculty Excellence) ‘that will analyze and measure the impact of technology on students’ educational experiences in various areas, ranging from first grade through higher education, both inside and outside the classroom.’
I will be writing a blog shortly on the lack of measurement of the effectiveness of technology in teaching and learning, so I am genuinely pleased to see this initiative, which is being set up with an independent advisory committee – but wouldn’t it be better if independent research councils were funding this, instead of a computer manufacturer?
