Who wants to update the French version of ‘Teaching in a Digital Age’?/Qui veut mettre à jour la version française de « Teaching in a Digital Age » ?

Je suis très reconnaissant à Contact Nord d’avoir trouvé des fonds pour la traduction française de la première édition de Teaching in a Digital Age. Malheureusement, il n’a pas été en mesure de trouver un financement pour un traducteur approprié pour la troisième édition.

Toutes les autres éditions linguistiques (espagnol, vietnamien, chinois, portugais, farsi, japonais, turc) ont été traduites par des bénévoles, dans le véritable esprit d’un manuel ouvert. Je me demande s’il y a quelqu’un qui serait prêt à mettre à jour la version française originale. Environ 20 % seulement du livre a besoin d’une nouvelle traduction, car Contact Nord a accepté de mettre la traduction de la première version à la disposition de tous les traducteurs bénévoles.

Dans un pays soi-disant bilingue, je crois qu’il est essentiel que la troisième édition soit également disponible en français. Si vous et certains de vos collègues êtes disposés à travailler bénévolement (un excellent exercice pour les étudiants diplômés en technologie éducative), veuillez me contacter (en anglais ou en français) à tony.bates@ubc.ca.

I am very grateful to Contact North for finding funds for the French translation of the first edition of Teaching in a Digital Age. Unfortunately though it has been unable to find funding for a suitable translator for the third edition.

All the other language editions (Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Portuguese, Farsi, Japanese, Turkish) have been translated by volunteers, in the true spirit of an open textbook. I am wondering if there is anyone out there who would be willing to take on updating the original French version. Only about 20 per cent of the book needs a new translation, as Contact North has agreed to make the translation of the first version available to any volunteer translators.

In a country that is supposedly bi-lingual, I believe it is essential that the third edition is also available in French. If you and some of your colleagues are willing to work on this on a volunteer basis (a great exercise for graduate students in educational technology) please contact me (in English or French) at tony.bates@ubc.ca.
